What is a classic album? what makes a classic album? I think that it is damn near impossible to become a classic album without time. Classic refers to something that withstands time and is always what is regardless of time. Something that is timeless or that is done so in a way that makes us say thats how is supposed to be one.Everyone is always throwing around the word classic. It just takes time to be a classic but in my opinion a classic CD is a CD that resound with timeless music. Smiling Cause This Rap sh*t Is So EasyWWW.FamRecords.COm

To describe a classic album u gotta compare it to fine wine. Its best when its aged. If you cant listen to a record years later then it aint a classic. Classics take u back to the year the album dropped. Make u reminisce and sh*t. like damn when this song came out, I was dating such and such or I was at this party and I knocked this nigga teeth out for stepping on my nikes lol. u know sh*t like that. i think they call it nostalgia.

Micheal Jacksons "Thriller" is a classic-I was listening to it today...and I think that CD is older than me...
So is Britney Spears "Baby One More Time" (others may disagree)

Not the biggest Wu Tang Fan but I respect that. And lets keep it really real I have all of Jay's albums but he only got 2 classics...Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint. Them other ones were kind of suspect including the Black Album

Just my two cents ...
Classic ... a classic is an album, yes, that has kept precendents over time, but not only that, a classic is like when you hear it ... you are taken back, like Nor, I believe, said ... You go on a trip back in time to an era where you reminisce your parents dancing after hours with their friends in the living room when ur behind was suppose to be sleeping, sitting outside on the porch eating ice cream and a car drives by blurring the sounds and you pause to listen while the ice cream steady drips down ya hands ... lol ... or, like Nor said, who you happen to be kickin it to while that particular album was playing in the background, or who's azz you had to beat for steppin on your latest white sneaks ... *smile* why the hell did you where white sneaks to a party anyway?? ...
Anywho, a classic is an album that has sustained the test of time and has retained the same glory it had when it first dropped. You can still go to someplace like FYE and they tell it is sold out ... You can go to the club and still groove to it ... You can play it and still learn from it and get inspired ... Yeah, that's a classic.
That's my two cents.

In response to DaPrezzident, I'm a big Jay-Z fan and I agree that the Blueprint & Reasonable Doubt we're his holy grails but saying The Black Album was suspect was reckless, when its all said and done The Black Album was a pretty dope album and another thing The Blueprint was his 6th LP,how the hell does your 6th album go classic? that means that motherf**ker was focused. Most artists want their 1st LP to be a classic but damn when your 6th album is a hip hop classic your focused like a motherf**ker. So thats props right there..feel me?
